I have worked in the computing sector since graduating from University, both in industry & in education. I have over 10 years experience working as a software developer in industry, over half that time for my own company. I have 16 years experience teaching at Further Education level, mostly in Computer Games Development. I have experience in technical support; building, maintaining, networking & have taught various CISCO courses. I'm a Microsoft Certified Teacher Trainer & I've ran various teacher training courses (mostly in games based learning & development) for my College, Scotland’s Colleges & the Scottish Qualifications Authority. In the past 5 years I have been involved with the SQA in leading, developing, writing, vetting & verifying qualifications, curriculum & assessments for various computing subjects.
I have also been involved in creating educational games that make use of gaming hardware such as Kinect & wireless XBOX controllers. This put me in touch with Microsoft Partners in Learning & I became part of their K Team. I have presented at events such as ALTc, CAS & BETT on my educational games & Microsoft's TouchDevelop platform.
I have been a Microsoft MVP for Kinect and now Emerging Technologies for the past 3 years. This has given me the opportunity to travel to Microsoft HQ for the past 3 years for the MVP Summit in Seattle.
