Patricia Ragan Stokes (formerly Ragan)
I am a passionate business teacher on a mission to get students hired and accepted to the college/career of their dreams. I have embarked on a new position at Fayetteville-Manlius High School where I have the honor of teaching some of the top students in the State of New York. After this first year teaching in this amazing district, I have found that I am learning my craft as a teacher with new eyes even though I have been teaching for 17 years.
I graduated from Oswego State University with Business and Distributive Education degree and received Masters degree from Syracuse University in Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation. I enjoy employing the lessons learned during my IDD&E training at Syracuse University as I am consistently designing, implementing, and evaluating new learning activities that engage my students and prepares them for 21st century pursuits. I have created many new initiatives during this 2015-2016 school year and plan to develop and refine them as I continue to teach here at FM. My business background includes experience in the banking and medical insurance industries.
I have been teaching for 17 years and have been a Microsoft Innovative Expert Educator since 2012. I have traveled to Barcelona, Spain to present at the Global Microsoft in Education Forum. I have also presented learning activities on the Microsoft campus near Seattle and at the School of the Future in Philadelphia. I have had trans-formative experiences both personally and professionally as an MIE. The lessons are countless from communicating effectively with educators from around the globe to having a blast trying new foods with team USA in new countries.
I enjoy designing learning activities that simulate the real world of business in an effort to prepare my students to be hired, promoted, and accepted to the college/career of their dreams. On a personal note, I have two German Shepherds and one husky mix and they are my furry kids. Training my dogs is one of my hobbies and I honestly feel it helps me be a better educator. I recently got married to Bob Stokes, a former MIE who I collaborate with as he is a special education teacher. I am passionate about Microsoft in Education and excited to get involved again in this amazing global community.

Training my German Shepherds. I currently have two German Shepherds, one American black and tan and one Czechoslovakian black working line. He is a handful and my husband and I are working hard to find him the right "job" including professional heeling and agility work. I also enjoy traveling to new and exciting locations and to Maine every summer. I love to cook, go out to dinner, and spend time with my family.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen ~Sir Winston Churchill
To Kill a Mockingbird, and Night are my favorite books. I encourage my students to read recent and relative articles from trusted publications regarding current events and issues affecting our business world.
